The Project

Studi Cattolici and Edizioni Ares
“to live better”

A digital archive to carry a historical identity into the future:

Studi Cattolici is a heritage that has evolved in form and accumulated content over the decades, embracing the challenges and opportunities presented by technological development.

Since 2002, the magazine has also been available in digital format, but Ares dreamed even bigger. We worked to make the entire Studi Cattolici collection accessible and usable, from the first issue in June 1957 to the present day.

This was made possible through a process of digitisation and indexing of the magazine, with the aim of promoting and safeguarding a heritage of great social, cultural and historical value, using a sustainable and inclusive approach that will allow you, the readers, to access a wide range of content by creating your own personal research and exploration paths.

Heritage is providing consultancy services for the design of the new digital platform dedicated entirely to Studi Cattolici. Founded in 2013, Heritage is an SME that operates in the field of designing, producing, developing and communicating cultural content and representations. It does this by using innovative digital solutions and new narrative formats, and carries out hundreds of enhancement projects for public and private entities throughout Italy.

Data collection for the platform was carried out with the help of Porini, a DGS Group company that has supported Italian and foreign companies in their digital transformation for over 50 years. As a Microsoft Solutions Partner and member of the Microsoft AI L.A.B. (Learn, Adopt, Benefit) programme, Porini is committed to promoting the responsible use of Generative Artificial Intelligence, opening up new scenarios for sustainable growth and digital innovation.

The project is considered a genuine social and cultural activity. For this reason, partnerships have been formed with FAES and Sacro Cuore schools in Milan, as well as with the Catholic University and the University of Milan. These partnerships aim to engage young high school and university students, offering them the chance to participate in work-study programmes and training internships.

The project is funded by the European Union’s Next Generation EU initiative as part of the PNRR.
